OF THOSE 33 CPR HOURS, WE HAD TWO INDIVIDUALS WHO ACTUALLY WALKED OUT OF THE HOSPITAL AFTER RECEIVING TREATMENT ON SCENE. THAT PERCENTAGE IS SOMEWHERE AROUND 17% OF THE AMOUNT THAT WE HAVE TYPICALLY.
THAT'S WHY WE ENCOURAGE CITIZENS CPR.
THE SOONER CPR IS INITIATED, THEN THE CHANCES OF SURVIVAL INCREASE GREATLY FROM 2% TO UP TO 40%, IF FOLLOWED BY EMS, FIRST RESPONDERS AND ADVANCED LIFE CARE.
SO TONIGHT, WE ARE HERE TO RECOGNIZE INDIVIDUALS FOR THEIR LIFE SAVING EFFORTS.
WE DON'T OFTEN GET TO SEE PATIENTS WALK OUT OF THE HOSPITAL AFTER TREATING THEM ON SCENE.

UPON ARRIVAL, PRINCETON QUINT 793 CREW IN AMR FOUND THE PATIENT LYING ON THE FLOOR IN THE LIVING ROOM AND AGONAL RESPIRATIONS WITH NO PULSE DETECTED BY FIRST RESPONDERS.
THE PATIENT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL WITH A PULSE.
YOUR QUICK RESPONSE AND SUCCESSFUL ACTIONS WERE DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PATIENT SURVIVING AND MAKING A FULL RECOVERY ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF PRINCETON, THE PRINCETON FIRE DEPARTMENT.

WE'RE CALLING IT OUR COMMUNITY PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM.
SO WHAT IT'S GOING TO ENTAIL IS A CPR CERTIFICATION CLASS.
ENSURING OUR NEIGHBORS WITH ANY SPECIAL NEEDS ARE TAKEN CARE OF DURING TIMES OF CRISIS AND KEEPING CONTACT INFORMATION FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. DID YOU KNOW THAT MORE THAN 350,000 CARDIAC ARRESTS HAPPEN OUTSIDE OF THE HOSPITAL? 49% OF HOUSE FIRES ARE CAUSED BY COOKING ACCIDENTS.
THE NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF DEATH FOR CHILDREN AGES FOUR AND UNDER IS DROWNING.
CPR CERTIFICATION FOR PARENTS AND CHILD CARE PROVIDERS IS NECESSARY TO DECREASE LOSS OF LIFE.
SO WE NEED TO TAKE CARE OF OUR COMMUNITY.
COMMUNITY PREPAREDNESS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO OUR COMMUNITY.
IT'S GOING TO PROVIDE HANDS ON EXPERIENCE IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS, WHICH GIVES AN IN-DEPTH LOOK AT HOW THE PRINCETON FIRE DEPARTMENT OPERATES AND HELPS TO BUILD CONFIDENCE WITHIN THEM.
IT'S GOING TO TEACH FIRE AND FIRST AID SAFETY, WHICH WILL IMPROVE WORKPLACE AND COMMUNITY SAFETY.

ANYONE WILL BE ABLE TO SIGN UP FOR THE CPR CERTIFICATION CLASS.
A $25 FEE, WHICH COVERS THE CARD.
AND THE CERTIFICATION WOULD BE AVAILABLE TO RESIDENTS WITHIN THE PRINCETON CITY LIMITS.
SO THEY HAVE GIVEN US ENOUGH TO COVER 100 RESIDENTS AT THAT $25 FEE.
AND THEN WE WOULD GO BACK AND PRESENT AND LET THEM KNOW HOW THE PROGRAM WAS WORKING OUT.
THE CLASS WOULD STILL BE HELD AT THE STEVEN AND JUDY DEFFIBAUGH COMMUNITY CENTER, AND WE HAVE A TENTATIVE START DATE OF JANUARY 19TH, 2023 FOR THAT CPR CERTIFICATION CLASS. THE CITIZENS FIRE ACADEMY IS GOING TO BE HELD BETWEEN THE PRINCETON MUNICIPAL MUNICIPAL CENTER AND THE FIRE STATIONS. THE PROGRAM RUN DATE WOULD BE EVERY THURSDAY FOR SIX WEEKS, TENTATIVELY BEGINNING APRIL 13TH AND RUNNING THROUGH MAY 18TH.
AND THAT WOULD BE OPEN ALSO TO RESIDENTS WITHIN PRINCETON CITY LIMITS.
AND THEN WE HAVE CERT, WHICH, LIKE I SAID, IS THE COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM.
THAT WOULD BE A RECRUITMENT OF OUR COMMUNITY TO BECOME A PART OF THE COLLIN COUNTY TEAM.
CERT COMES IN AND THEY COMPLETE THE TRAINING.
AND WE RECEIVED FUNDS ALSO FROM CDC TO COVER THE CERT KIT SUPPLIES FOR RESIDENTS WITHIN THE PRINCETON CITY LIMITS.
AND THAT START DATE WOULD BE DETERMINED BY CERT AS TO WHEN THEY COULD GET IN AND START THAT PROGRAM.
SO I'M GOING TO TURN THIS OVER TO CHIEF HARVEY, AND HE HAS A FEW TALKING POINTS.
AND IN THE CASE OF A CPR, MORE SURVIVABLE.

THE SAME WITH THE CITIZENS FIRE ACADEMY IN MANY CASES CAN ASSIST REDUCING THE PUBLIC SAFETY OPERATIONAL IMPACT BOTH PD AND FD, NOT JUST RELIANCE ON PUBLIC SAFETY WHEN DISASTER STRIKES, BUT STRENGTH THROUGH COMMUNITY CAPABILITY AND FINALLY PROVIDING OPPORTUNITY TO GROW CITIZEN BASED RESPONSE CAPABILITY.
WE ENGAGE AND WE STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITY STRENGTH AND OUR TEAM AS A WHOLE.

WE NEED TO KEEP THAT CLASS GOING.
SO IT SHOULD. THE ONLY OUTSIDE EXPENSE WOULD BE A LIVE FIRE EXERCISE AT COLLIN COUNTY AND TO RENT THEIR FACILITY AT $600 FOR 4 HOURS. BUT IT'S A GOOD EXPERIENCE FOR ANYBODY ENGAGED IN THAT PROGRAM.
AND THAT'S GOING TO ENSURE THAT EACH RESIDENT ON THE CERT TEAM IS IN POSSESSION OF ALL NECESSARY EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY. THE CERT TEAM IS REALLY GOOD TO HAVE IN AN INSTANCE WHERE MAYBE THERE HAS BEEN A TORNADO THAT HAS PASSED THROUGH OR AN ICE STORM. SO THOSE RESIDENTS THAT WE HAVE HERE IN OUR OWN COMMUNITIES CAN ASSIST FD AND THE PD.

WE AGREED WITH THE INITIAL PROPOSER TO PULL BACK AND RESTART THE PROCESS OF SOLICITING BIDS TO ENSURE THE SUCCESS OF THE DIVERSITY EQUITY AND INCLUSION INITIATIVE.

HOWEVER, WE'RE NOT ABLE TO TAKE ACTION TONIGHT TO CANVASS THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTION.
