I'D LIKE TO THANK YOU, COMMISSION, FOR TAKING THE TIME TODAY TO DISCUSS WITH US THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE, FOCUSING IN ON THE 380 CORRIDOR. A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT WE WANTED TO JUST BRIEFLY GO OVER TODAY BEFORE WE GET INTO DISCUSSION.

JUST GIVE YOU AN OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT.

WHAT WE'VE DONE TO DATE, WHERE WE'RE HEADED, AND THEN TAKE A QUICK LOOK AT THE PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT THAT WE'VE HAD THUS FAR, AND THEN WE'LL GET INTO SOME STRATEGIC DIRECTION, SOME SOME KEY QUESTIONS THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT, GETTING YOUR FEEDBACK AND INPUT FOR TODAY.

WITH THAT, WE WERE TASKED ALSO TO REACH OUT TO YOUR COMMUNITY IN DIFFERENT WAYS THROUGH THIS PROCESS.

SO LOOKING AT IT IN DIFFERENT THROUGH DIFFERENT LENSES TO REALLY UNDERSTAND ALL OF THE FACTORS THAT PLAY IN ON THE FUTURE DEVELOPMENT SNAPSHOT OF THE AREA.

LAST WEEK, ON THURSDAY, JULY 20TH, WE CONDUCTED A PUBLIC WORKSHOP COMMUNITY WORKSHOP WHERE WE HAD PARTICIPANTS COME IN FROM THE COMMUNITY AND GIVE US INFORMATION AND INPUT ON THE CORRIDOR.

HERE ARE SOME IMAGES FROM THAT MEETING.

WE HAD THAT MEETING HERE IN THIS ROOM.

WE HAD SEVERAL DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES WHERE PEOPLE GAVE INPUT ON WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE STATIONS WAS THE MAPPING STATION, WHERE WE STOOD OVER A MAP AND REALLY GENERATED A LOT OF GOOD IDEAS ON THAT MAP, AND YOU KIND OF SEE HERE SOME OF MY CHICKEN SCRATCH ON, YOU KNOW, DIFFERENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE CORRIDOR.

WE HAVE A RECAP DOCUMENT THAT WILL BE POSTED THIS WEEK ONLINE THAT WILL GIVE YOU THE FULL THE FULL RUNDOWN OF HOW MANY PEOPLE ATTENDED FEEDBACK THAT WE HEARD AND GENERAL THEMES.

SOME OF THE RESPONSES WE GOT WAS AUTOMOBILITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.

THOSE ARE KIND OF TWO KEY FACTORS FOR THIS CORRIDOR, AND ONE OF THE QUESTIONS THERE WERE MANY QUESTIONS, BUT ONE OF THEM, WHAT ACTIONS WOULD MAKE THIS A SUCCESSFUL PLAN AND AREA FOR PRINCETON AND SOME OF IT, YOU KNOW, TOUCHED ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, LOOK AND FEEL COHESIVE COLLABORATION OF USES, THOSE KINDS OF THINGS.

SO REALLY, THIS IS WHERE IT'S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO JUST SPEND SOME TIME WITH YOU ALL AND REALLY GET SOME DIRECTION FOR FOR MOVING FORWARD THROUGH THE CORRIDOR, AND SO WE HAVE THREE QUESTIONS.

SO BY LIMITED ACCESS, THIS ROAD IS GOING TO BE SIMILAR TO IS IT NOT REALLY A TOLL ROAD, BUT HOW WHAT ARE THE IS IT GOING TO HAVE SERVICE ROADS OR IS IT JUST I'M SORRY, I HAVEN'T ATTENDED THE 380 MEETING, SO I'M NOT SURE HOW THAT'S CONSTRUCTED.

THERE'S LIMITED AREAS WHERE THERE WILL BE FRONTAGE ROADS, BUT IT'S LIMITED.

SO IT'S NOT A CONTINUOUS NETWORK OF FRONTAGE ROADS.

THERE ARE YOU CAN KIND OF SEE THE YELLOW CIRCLES AS THEY TRAVERSE THROUGH THE THROUGH THE CORRIDOR.

THOSE ARE REALLY KEY INTERSECTIONS WHERE PEOPLE CAN EXIT AND GET ON.

SO IT'S NOT COMPLETELY LIMITED.

THERE ARE THERE ARE INTERCHANGES, BUT YES, THE FRONTAGE ROAD SITUATION CHANGES DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU ARE AND ESPECIALLY AS IT GETS CLOSE TO LAKE LAVON, THAT FLOODPLAIN AREA, THAT'S WHERE IT'S REALLY LIMITED AS FAR AS THE FRONTAGE ROADS COMMISSIONER CAMPBELL IT WOULD BE COMPARABLE TO I-75.

I THINK, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE ONE AREA DESIGNATED ON 380 THAT'S SPECIFICALLY FOR MEDICAL, BUT WE'VE SEEN SOME PROPOSITIONS OF OTHER MEDICAL FACILITIES AND PUTTING SOMETHING LIKE THAT UP IN THIS AREA THAT WOULD BE SOME A NECESSITY FOR PEOPLE TO ACCESS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY WOULD BE A GREAT.

START IN THIS NORTHERN AREA AS WELL.

OKAY. MEDICAL, AND WHEN YOU'RE THINKING OF LAND USES, YOU CAN THINK OF THEM A LITTLE BIT MORE BROAD BRUSH THAN THAN SPECIFIC USES, THE SPECIFIC USE TYPES.

IT'S MORE WHAT IS THE GENERAL AREA, THE GENERAL MAKEUP OF AN AREA.

YOU KNOW, COMMERCIAL IS KIND OF A GENERAL MAKEUP, BUT IT DOESN'T JUST PIN YOU DOWN TO JUST DOING COMMERCIAL, BUT, YOU KNOW, SOME OF THE RESPONSES WE HEARD WERE, YOU KNOW, MAYBE THE

NORTHERN PART IS MORE RESIDENTIAL, AND AS YOU GET CLOSER TO THE SOUTH, THAT'S WHERE YOU HAVE SOME COMMERCIAL OPPORTUNITY, AND THEN KIND OF AS YOU GO EAST, THAT'S REALLY WHERE YOU CAN CAPTURE SOME OF THE ACCESS TO OPEN SPACE AND TO LAKE LAVON.

YEAH, I THINK THAT MAKES SENSE.

YEAH, THERE WAS AN OBSERVATION THAT PART OF THE CORRIDOR MIGHT BE ELEVATED, AND SO BECAUSE OF THAT, THERE'S JUST A CONCERN ABOUT BUILDINGS AT A CERTAIN HEIGHT REALLY HAVING SOME NOISE CHALLENGES.

SO THERE WAS A CONCERN ABOUT, YOU KNOW, THE DENSITY OF HOUSING IN THAT AREA FOR SURE.

OKAY, THE NEXT QUESTION IS WHAT PRIMARY OBJECTIVES SHOULD WE AIM TO ACCOMPLISH WITH REGARD TO MOBILITY AND TRANSPORTATION DECISIONS ALONG THE CORRIDOR? WHEN YOU SAY MOBILITY AND TRANSPORTATION DECISIONS, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? LIKE, ARE YOU THINKING WE SHOULD REALLY FOCUS ON PUSHING PEOPLE TOWARDS THE CORRIDOR? BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY 380 IS ALREADY SUPER CONGESTED.

SO IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE THINKING OR ARE YOU THINKING WHAT CAN YOU KIND OF DESCRIBE THAT A LITTLE MORE? SURE AND SO I THINK THAT'S A GREAT THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION BECAUSE THERE'S A LOT OF THERE'S DIFFERENT WAYS TO APPROACH IT, AND I THINK TO YOUR POINT, YOU HAVE 380 CURRENTLY.

THERE'S LOTS OF TRAFFIC, THERE'S LOTS OF SORT OF INTENSITY ALONG ALONG THE 380 WHEN YOU HAVE THIS BYPASS AND IT NOW IT TRAVERSES THROUGH VACANT LAND. HOW YOU KNOW, THE QUESTION IS HOW DO WE APPROACH MOBILITY FROM THAT STANDPOINT? IS IT ARE WE BRINGING PEOPLE TO THE TO THE CORRIDOR? ARE WE ALLOWING THEM TO TRAVERSE? ARE WE CONNECTING ACROSS? WHAT ARE THE SORT OF PRIMARY OBJECTIVES? IS WALKABILITY A CONCERN? IS CONNECTIVITY A CONCERN ACROSS, LIKE I SAID, YOU KNOW, ARE THERE OPPORTUNITIES LIKE GATEWAY OPPORTUNITIES AT DIFFERENT POINTS? SO THOSE TYPES OF DIFFERENT THINGS , AND WHEN YOU SAY GATEWAY, CAN YOU ELABORATE ON WHAT A GATEWAY WOULD BE IN THIS SCENARIO? SURE. SO AGAIN, THE CORRIDOR GOES ACROSS THE CITY, EAST TO WEST, AND A LOT OF TIMES THERE'S OPPORTUNITY ONCE YOU ENTER THE CITY OR YOU'RE LEAVING THE CITY TO REALLY SIGNIFY, HEY, WELCOME TO PRINCETON.

SO THAT COULD BE THROUGH SIGNAGE, THAT COULD BE THROUGH MONUMENTATION LIGHTING, THAT TYPE OF THAT TYPE OF THING.

SO WHEN WE'RE TALKING ABOUT GATEWAY OPPORTUNITIES, IT'S REALLY, YOU KNOW, ENTERING THE CITY AND ANNOUNCING YOU'VE ARRIVED, YOU KNOW, BRANDING IT AND LETTING PEOPLE KNOW THAT THEY'VE THAT THEY'VE, YOU KNOW, THAT THEY'VE ARRIVED AND THEN ALSO THERE'S KIND OF A SECONDARY OPPORTUNITY TO TELL PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE, YOU KNOW, DOWNTOWN IS THIS WAY OR, YOU KNOW, SOME, YOU KNOW, SOME OTHER KEY AREAS THAT WAY. SO THOSE TYPES OF THINGS.

YEAH, I THINK THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE, IN MY OPINION, IS TO JUST RELIEVE SOME OF THAT CONGESTION THAT'S OFF OF 380 NOW, AND THEN ALSO KIND OF HAVING A FORESIGHT FOR THE FUTURE GROWTH.

SO SO BE KIND OF EVENLY DISTRIBUTED IF THAT'S EVEN POSSIBLE.

YOU KNOW, I KIND OF PICTURED THIS SIMILAR TO THE WAY CENTRAL EXPRESSWAY OR HIGHWAY 75 WAS SPLIT IN SHERMAN, WHERE YOU HAVE THE OLD BUSINESS 75, AND THEN THIS WOULD BE OUR OLD BUSINESS 380, AND THEN THIS LOOP WOULD BE THE NEWER BUSINESS OR NEWER COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENTS.

IN MY MIND IS HOW I'M SEEING THIS PLAY OUT.

I THINK THE SIGNAGE IS A GOOD IDEA.

KIND OF POINTING TOWARD.

I GOT TO THINKING ABOUT IT. THIS IS GOING TO TAKE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO PASS THROUGH PRINCETON.

IT'S GOING TO TAKE THEM COMPLETELY AROUND US NOW.

SO IT'S GOING TO BYPASS A LOT OF THE COMMERCIAL BUSINESSES THAT ARE NOW ON WHAT WILL BE BUSINESS 380 AS WELL.

AS YOU KNOW, ANYBODY WHO LIVES NORTH OF MONTE CARLO IS PROBABLY GOING TO TAKE THAT BYPASS WAY BACK TO THE WEST AND NOT EVEN COME DOWN

SO LIKE THE MAIN ARTERIAL, LIKE FM 75 WOULD BE A MAIN WOULD BE A GOOD SPOT TO, YOU KNOW, SAY POINT THIS WAY TOWARD DOWNTOWN PRINCETON OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, BUT YEAH, I THINK THE WHEN YOU KIND OF WHEN YOU'RE REMOVING A LOT OF THESE PASS THROUGH VEHICLES JUST TO KIND OF LET THEM KNOW THAT WE'RE STILL HERE, YOU KNOW.

YEAH. SO, YOU KNOW, SAFETY MIGHT BE SOMETHING THEN THAT YOU WANT TO IF YOU'RE ENCOURAGING OR YOU JUST KNOW THERE'S GOING TO BE A LOT OF TRAFFIC SAFETY IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING TO LOOK TO GETTING PEOPLE SAFELY OFF OF AND ONTO THE BYPASS ROAD AS WELL.

SO, I MEAN, WE CAN ALSO THINK OF IT AS LIKE WHAT 121 KIND OF LOOKS LIKE ON THE NORTHERN PART WHERE THERE'S A LOT OF VACANT LAND THAT'S NOW BECOMING LARGE BUSINESSES, AND I KNOW FROM THE SURVEY YOU GUYS HAD AND JUST SEEING WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY IS THAT THEY REALLY WANT THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.

I THINK THAT'S MORE LARGER BUSINESSES, MAYBE OFFICE BUILDINGS, MEDICAL THINGS LIKE THAT ARE LARGER AND LIKE ENTERTAINMENT, ETCETERA. SO YOU'VE GOT TO THINK ABOUT IT LIKE THAT AS WELL? [INAUDIBLE].

THIS WILL END UP BEING, WHAT, TWO LANES ON EACH SIDE? THREE LANES ON EACH SIDE? OH, I'M NOT SURE.

FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN ON THEIR SCHEMATICS, TWO LANES OF ON THE FRONTAGE ROADS AND THEN EIGHT MAIN LANES, FOUR IN EACH DIRECTION, BUT WE DON'T KNOW THAT THE PHASING OF WHAT WILL BE BUILT FIRST IT MAY JUST BE THE FRONTAGE ROADS INITIALLY THAT'S THE FULL BUILDOUT IS SHOWN TO BE TEN LANES, KIND OF LIKE THEY DID WITH THE 121 TOLLWAY. YEAH. OKAY.

ALL RIGHT. SO THE NEXT QUESTION IS HOW WOULD YOU BEST DESCRIBE THE 380 LAR CORRIDOR IN 2050? SO LOOKING OUT 30 YEARS, ONCE WE'VE REALIZED THAT FULL BUILD OUT SCENARIO AND THE QUESTION SAYS SHOULD ITS FULL POTENTIAL BE REALIZED? HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THAT CORRIDOR? AND THINK THINK ALONG THE LINES OF A VISION, A VISION STATEMENT.

WHAT IS THE VISION FOR THE CORE? WHAT IS IT OVERARCHING? WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE? WHAT IS IT? HOW CAN WE CAPTURE THAT IN WORDS? WELL, THE VISION ULTIMATELY IS TO RELIEVE THE CONGESTION ON WHAT IS NOW 380.

YOU KNOW, I JUST WE'RE MISSING A LOT OF CITY TRAFFIC OR OR INFLOW AND OUTFLOW FROM PEOPLE OUT OF TOWN BY MOVING AROUND OUR COMMUNITY.

SO I WANT TO BRING SOME OF THAT BUSINESS OUT THERE TO THAT LOOP.
